Ordering & Products
currently our hats, bags and accessories are either handmade or up-cycled in the UK, produced by me or in collaboration with a small number of trusted London-based seamstresses.
Many pieces begin as thrifted or pre-loved finds, which are then transformed using Hat & Spicy’s design, materials, and construction.
If an item is handmade or up-cycled, this will always be clearly stated on the product page - no guesswork required.
Each individual product page clearly explains how the item is made and how it will be dispatched.
If a product is described as handmade, up-cycled, made to order, or ready to ship, that information will always be stated there.
Ready-to-ship pieces are fully made and available to dispatch immediately.
Orders usually ship within 2–4 working days - perfect for last-minute plans and sudden outfit epiphanies.
Pieces are produced in small batches, and many styles use deadstock or limited materials - meaning most releases are limited edition.
If an item sells out, you can sign up on the product page to be notified if it returns. Some styles may not come back once materials are gone. If you love it, don’t miss your chance!
Some ready-to-ship items are handmade, and some pieces use up-cycled or small-batch materials. Because of this, slight variations in colour, texture, or finish may occur.
For Custom Couture and up-cycled pieces, each item is one-of-a-kind - differences are part of the design.

All UK orders are sent via tracked first iIclass delivery.
Estimated delivery times and costs are shown at checkout.

International orders may be subject to customs or import charges. These fees are set by your local customs authority, are outside of our control, and are the responsibility of the recipient. Unfortunately, we’re unable to predict or cover these charges.

Returns
Ready-to-ship items can be returned within 14 days of delivery.
To start a return, please email us with your order number and reason for return.
Items must be unused, unworn, and in original condition.
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer
Original shipping fees are non-refundable
Made-to-order and custom pieces are final sale unless faulty.
If your item arrives damaged or faulty, please email us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos so we can help.
Fit & Wear
Most hats are designed to fit an average adult head comfortably.
Any specific fit notes (including sizing or adjustability) will always be listed on the individual product page. For Custom Couture pieces, sizing can be accommodated - just include your requirements when getting in touch.
Absolutely!
We recommend treating your piece with care, avoiding heavy rain where possible, and storing it somewhere safe when you’re not wearing it. They’re made to party.
Custom Couture
Custom Couture is where Hat & Spicy’s one-off, up-cycled and made-to-order pieces live.
These creations are made individually and designed to be bold, expressive, and completely unique - created for specific moments, events, or performances.
Signature styles shown on the Custom Couture page can be selected and customised.
Fully bespoke commissions are designed individually, using references and concepts as inspiration rather than fixed designs. I’ll guide you through the process and work with you to create the best possible result. Every Custom Couture piece is one-of-a-kind.
Light-up pieces
Selected hats are available with an optional light-up feature. These can be ordered via our Custom Couture page under the Signature Styles section — simply select “Hat n Lighty”
Light-up hats feature fully concealed wiring with multiple light settings, including flashing modes and a steady glow.
Lights can be switched on and off easily, with a subtle reveal once it gets dark. Each piece comes with batteries included, which may need replacing after a few nights of partying - depending how late you stay up.

Materials
I primarily work with faux fur and textiles, using a mix of:
- deadstock fabrics
- reclaimed or surplus materials
- carefully selected new fabrics where needed

Dragons' Den
Yes - Hat & Spicy appeared on Dragons’ Den.
Hat & Spicy was offered investment on Dragons’ Den. As with all Dragons’ Den deals, this is subject to due diligence and contracts being completed - we’re excited about what’s ahead.
The hats featured on the show were primarily up-cycled creations, transformed from pre-existing hats using Hat & Spicy’s signature design process.
Peter wore a Spice World. Touker wore bouncing bunny ears. Deborah wore a super sustainable spice. Jenna wore a light up posh spice & Steven wore a hat n spicy x Agro collab trapper.
Hat & Spicy is currently independently run, producing handmade and up-cycled pieces in small batches — with exciting plans to scale in 2026 (fingers crossed 👀)
